You may be living continents away from South Asia, but you can still enjoy the authentic taste of South Asian food in the very heart of Luxembourg City.

Being South Asian, even during trips, we always crave South Asian food after a few days of travel. This time, we chose the Bay of Bengal to try authentic subcontinental cuisine.
The restaurant mainly serves Bangladeshi dishes, but they are very similar to Indian and Pakistani food. If you enjoy Indian or Pakistani cuisine, this is a must-visit restaurant in Luxembourg.

The Bay of Bengal is located near Luxembourg Central Station - just a 4-minute walk from the train station.
The restaurant has a 4+ rating on Google, which is already an indication of their great taste.
The restaurant has a great ambience, with pictures depicting the history of Bengal, offering a glimpse into its heroes and culture.

We started our dining experience with a starter called Papadam, which are crispy crackers served with three different types of chutneys.
We ordered a Samosa Platter, which included three mini samosas with vegetable, chicken, and lamb mince fillings.
The taste was amazing - the crispy exterior and generously stuffed interior were full of spices and rich flavors.

Pro tip: You can also order their plum chutney, which pairs perfectly with the samosas.
We also ordered Chicken Tikka, which is their grilled chicken prepared in a tandoor.
Now, coming to the main course, we ordered three different chicken gravies. The Butter Chicken is cooked fresh with a combination of spices. In most restaurants, we find butter chicken to be a bit too sweet, which we consider inauthentic.

However, we were pleasantly surprised to find that their butter chicken was perfectly balanced with spices, sweetness, and a buttery texture.
It should definitely be on your must-try list here.
Madras Chicken originated in the city of Madras, India, and is not very popular in Pakistan.
We wanted to try it to experience the taste, and it was simply amazing, with perfectly balanced spices and a flavorful curry.

Chicken Tikka Masala has chicken tikka, which is grilled in a tandoor and then cooked in a tomato-based curry with a blend of aromatic spices.

Even though all of these gravies were made with a combination of chicken, spices, and sauces, they tasted so different from each other. Each dish had its own texture, color, aroma, and flavor. They tasted amazing with either plain or butter naan.
Not to forget, the naan was just incredible, very soft and fluffy, just as authentic as what you get in local shops in the subcontinent.

Pro Tip: To complement your meal even better, you can order a Mango Lassi.
If you are in a South Asian restaurant, you can’t forget to try Chicken Biryani and that’s exactly what we ordered.
There’s always a friendly food war among biryani lovers: some prefer it with potatoes, while others like it without. We are definitely on team biryani with potatoes.

In most South Asian restaurants in Europe, we find that biryani is often served without potatoes, which can be disappointing.
However, here the Chicken Biryani comes with potatoes, and it was just amazing. It has fragrant basmati rice cooked with spices, chicken, potatoes, and green chilies - absolutely delicious!

These are just a few of the dishes we tried from their assorted menu, which ranges from various vegetarian options to chicken and meat dishes.
The restaurant also serves delicious desserts - do try their Gulab Jamun!

Ending note:
Overall, the restaurant offers a complete dining experience from the ambience to the quality and taste of the food, to the friendliness of the staff; everything was top-notch. It’s highly recommended to try their food and indulge yourself in the flavors of South Asian cuisine.
Moreover, you can also ask the staff for their
